Relaxing Golf Weekend in Vail, Colorado

When I moved from Colorado to Boston, I quickly learned that squeezing in a quick hike after work wasn’t exactly a thing. So, in search of a new way to soak up some sun and spend time outside, I gave golf a shot. And while I still hesitate to call myself a “golfer” (what even is a respectable number of mulligans?), it’s become one of my favorite ways to unwind, get some fresh air, and just reset.

Now that I’m back in Colorado, I’ve rediscovered just how magical the Vail Valley really is! Within 40 minutes of Vail, there are seven beautiful golf courses, both public and private, and every one of them offers something a little different; breathtaking scenery, creative layouts, and plenty of photo opportunities.

This weekend itinerary is for those of us who enjoy the game, love the outdoors, and are here for a good time (not necessarily a low score). Think of it as a little golf, a little luxury, and a lot of Colorado charm. Whether you’re chasing birdies or just chasing the views, this Vail getaway has everything you need for the perfect summer reset.

Friday: Arrival & Dinner in Edwards

Dinner at Juniper, Edwards

Start your weekend in Edwards, a cute little mountain town that feels like a hidden gem. Grab dinner at Juniper, one of those cozy spots that’s been around forever and a local favorite. Think Colorado comfort food with a fancy twist! Afterward, take a stroll along the Riverwalk. It’s peaceful, pretty, and the perfect way to ease into weekend mode.

Saturday: Tee Time & Spa Relaxation

Morning Tee Time at Beaver Creek Golf Club + Pool & Spa day at Spa Anjali

Start your morning early with a tee time at Beaver Creek Golf Club, known for its stunning mountain vistas and maintained greens. The course is super scenic, winding through aspen groves and alongside creeks, and it’s just challenging enough to keep things interesting without making you want to throw your clubs. Bonus: the vibe here is low-key luxury. Think crisp mountain air, perfectly manicured fairways, and maybe a glass of wine after your round.

After your round, head to Spa Anjali or The Athletic Club at the Westin Riverfront to really unwind. If you book a spa treatment, you’ll automatically get access to their dreamy pool, hot tub, and fitness center. Not in the mood for a massage? No problem, you can still buy a day pass for about $50 and enjoy most of the same amenities. All of their workout classes are fabulous, from mat pilates to aerial yoga to Barre classes. They also offer reformer pilates for an additional cost on top of the day pass and spots are limited.

The pool at the Westin Riverfront is next-level. Featuring premier views of Beaver Creek Mountain, it truly doesn’t get much better. Order lunch and a margarita poolside and soak it all in. And if you’re into cold plunges, the Eagle River runs right past the pool gate. You can dip straight into the river and then hop into the hot tub with views of Beaver Creek. It’s the ultimate mountain spa experience. I would describe it as refreshing, relaxing, and just a little wild. In my opinion, this is by far the best pool, gym, AND spa in the valley!

Sunset Cocktails at Lookout Bar, Avon

After a day at the best pool in the valley, refresh and head over to the Lookout Bar in Avon, right next door to the Westin Riverfront Hotel and Spa. As Vail Valley’s only rooftop bar, it offers incredible unobstructed views of Beaver Creek. While definitely known for the views on the rooptop, this bar also has fab cocktails crafted by bartenders who really know their stuff!

Dinner Options: Italian Charm or Mountain Magic

After cocktails, you’ve got two incredible dinner routes:

  • For amazing pasta and Italian vibes, head back to Zino Ristorante in Edwards. Snag a spot on their patio. It overlooks the river and sets the scene for the perfect end to your day. Whatever you do, don’t skip the seasonal pizza. The corn or peach options sound wild, but trust me, you’ll be dreaming about them long after the weekend’s over. After dinner, take a slow stroll along the riverfront path right next to the restaurant.

  • Looking for something truly unforgettable? Head up the mountain to Beano’s Cabin, a hidden gem on Beaver Creek Mountain. This on-mountain dining experience combines rustic luxury with gourmet cuisine and panoramic alpine views. Arrive by horseback or complimentary shuttle and have a memorable evening unlike any other.

Sunday: Vail Golf Club & Farmers' Market Fun

Morning Tee Time at Vail Golf Club

Sunday morning calls for one more round and I promise, Vail Golf Club is worth the early alarm. Nestled at the base of the Gore Range, this course delivers big views. It’s a little less tucked away than Beaver Creek, but no less scenic. Grab your coffee, lace up those golf shoes, and enjoy one last mountain round before easing into the rest of your day.

Lunch at the Farmers' Market and Shopping around Vail Village

Post-golf, head straight to the Vail Farmers’ Market (Sundays from 9:30-3:00, mid-June through early October). With over 40 food vendors, you can build your own dream lunch. Whether you’re craving BBQ, smoked salmon gyros, farm fresh produce, or a homemade sweet treat, there’s really something for every appetite. I love grabbing a few things and picnicking down by Gore Creek, which runs right through the Village. Check out my recommendation for the best sweet treat stop at the entire market in my hiking weekend itinerary!

Once you’ve refueled, take your time wandering through Vail Village before heading home. Pop into art galleries, grab an iced coffee, and do some shopping. Don’t miss Golden Bear! Vail’s signature jewelry brand is the perfect place to snag a special piece to remember your weekend.

Spend your afternoon wandering the streets of Vail Village

Whether you’re here for the golf, the spa, or just the vibes, a summer weekend in Vail is the ultimate way to relax, recharge, and soak up those mountain views. Pack your clubs, bring your appetite, and get ready to make your weekend feel like a mini vacation. See you on the green!
